World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is one month away. As you prepare to raise awareness and take action for elder justice, we wanted to highlight two upcoming activities being organized by the ACL-funded National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA).

The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) at ACL has three new funding opportunities under the Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers (RRTCs) Program for research on serious mental illness.

Community Care Corps has announced a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for innovative local models in which volunteers assist family caregivers, older adults, or adults with disabilities with non-medical care to maintain their independence.

The eight grantees include community-based organizations, health care entities, and academic institutions. They will receive approximately $4.8 million over four years in combined funding to implement CDSME programs across six states.

The meeting will highlight the importance of including older adults in preparedness planning for disasters, emergencies, and pandemics and discuss the future of the elder justice movement as we prepare to commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

ACL is excited to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the first ever ACL Innovation Lab (“the Lab”). The purpose of the Lab is to conduct research, demonstrations, and evaluations of issues pertaining to falls prevention amongst older adults and older adults with disabilities.
