In response to the growing elder rights and legal assistance needs of older Americans, ACL has awarded a total of $819,455 in three-year Legal Assistance Enhancement Program (LAEP) grants to Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc., Iowa Legal Aid, Montana Legal Services Association, and Prairie State Legal Services, Inc.

Survey on Accessible Transportation for Older Adults and People with Disabilities
The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) – a program of the Federal Transit Administration administered by Easterseals and USAging with guidance from ACL – wants to hear about challenges and promising practices in providing accessible transportation to older adults and people with disabilities. Survey responses will help influence the work NADTC does next year.

Grandparent scams play on the love grandparents share with their grandchildren. Scam perpetrators falsely state that a grandchild is in trouble with the law, sick, or injured and in need of an immediate transfer of a large sum of money to prevent dire harm to the grandchild.

The second joint meeting of the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council and the Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (SGRG) will be held on September 21, 2022, to announce the release of the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, as required by the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act.

In 2021, ACL awarded seven grants to support the Community Collaborations for Employment (CCE) Program to help increase and enhance collaborations across systems to maximize a seamless experience for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) as they transition between school and work in the community.
