Older adults may face unique challenges that impact their behavioral health as they age, including significant life changes, loss of loved ones, and economic insecurity. Implementing peer support programs in health care or community-based settings is one strategy to empower older adults to manage stress, life events, and difficult emotions. This webinar will provide information on three peer support programs implemented across the U.S. — Certified Older Adult Peer Specialists, the Wellness Recovery Action Plan, and Veterans Health Administration Peer Support Services. Speakers will discuss the needs of older adults seeking mental health treatment, the importance of peer support implementation from the national to local levels, and how to use peer support in your community.
