ACL has awarded six Pension Regional Counseling Program (PRCP) grants to help individuals in 31 states understand and access pension, profit sharing, and retirement savings plans. The programs are receiving over $1 million for the first of five project years.
PRCPs provide individuals with many pension-related access services, including advice, outreach, referral, location of lost plans, and representation in administrative proceedings. All services are provided regardless of age or income.
The funding was awarded to:
- Region I (CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME, and IL): University of Massachusetts Boston (Pension Action Center)
- Region II (NY and NJ): Brooklyn Legal Services, Inc.
- Region III (MI, IN, TN, OH, PA, and KY): Trellis
- Region IV (AR, LA, MO, NM, OK, and TX): Texas Legal Services Center, Inc.
- Region V (MN, WI, IA, ND, SD, and NE): Trellis
- Region VI (CA, AZ, NV, and HI): Legal Services of Northern California
Since their inception in 1993, PRCPs have recovered over $294 million in benefits for tens of thousands of clients, representing a direct return of more than nine dollars for every federal funding dollar invested. Read about some of the people who have benefited from the program.
