The DCW Strategies Center offers training and technical assistance (TA) to help states improve how they recruit, train, and retain direct care workers. Support is offered to state agencies, employers, educational institutions, and program administrators working to improve workforce outcomes.
State Advancement Lab
States work together to identify challenges and create solutions that help recruit, train, and retain direct care workers. They join a monthly meeting with other states working on similar goals, giving people a chance to share ideas, talk through challenges, and learn from one another. During these sessions, participants also hear from experts and receive practical tools and resources. The expert discussions focus on three main areas: joining the workforce, well-being at work, and career progression.
On-Demand Technical Assistance
States can request short-term help through our on-demand TA option. This is best for states that need quick answers or support on a specific issue. The support typically includes 10-20 hours of expert help over 30-45 days.
Each project connects a state agency with national experts to help answer clear, specific questions or solve a well-defined problem related to recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining the HCBS direct care workforce.
